E-mail and e-Consult service
Please do not e-mail us directly with private or confidential medical information. This is not a secure channel. Please contact us via the e-Consult service instead.
This is available via the online form found half way down the home page. Just click on the blue e-Consult box and follow the instructions. This is a secure way of contacting us and the system will direct you appropriately. If you need GP advice, you will receive a response the following working day and they will arrange any follow up or consultation that may be required.

Face coverings and hand washing
In line with Government recommendations, if you are entering the surgery premises, please wear a face covering. we also now have hand washing facilities at the entrance doors. Please wash your hands when entering and leaving the building.
Patient Access Update
If you access our online services, Patient Access has started to offer private services through the portal. These services are in no way endorsed by or connected to the practice. patient access are also updating their security and shortly when you log in you will be asked to provide a 5 digit pin number.
Pharmacies are taking longer to dispense medication due to supply issues. Please allow 7 days before collecting your medication or check with the pharmacy.
We have been advised not to offer online booking for face to face appointments for the time being. Appointments are for telephone consultations only so please leave a contact number. The GP or nurse will telephone you as close to the appointed time as possible. However, they will not be able to call multiple times if they cannot speak to you.

Non NHS work
This is not a priority for our team so it may take up to 3 weeks for us to provide insurance reports, to complete holiday cancellations forms etc. Please note there may be charges for these private services, so please ask.
Please also be aware that we cannot guarantee to turn around sick note requests within 48 hours, nor can we provide sick notes in advance.
Application form for online access
If a patient is transferred from Hexham General Hospital to Wansbeck or North Tyneside general hospitals for further treatment, a free daily shuttle car operates from Hexham to enable relatives to visit. To book a place on this service, which leaves Hexham General Hospital at 1pm, contact 0344 811 8111 and ask for extension 5388.
Our Patient Participation Group held its inaugural meeting in November 2011 with just 2 members. Since then, we have grown to 11 and usually meet quarterly at the Surgery.
Our group has so far, been very helpful in suggesting items which would be of interest to patients in our regular newsletters.
Issues affecting the patient population on a wider scale, such as emergency care in Hexham and car parking on the hospital site are often on our agenda.
If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Anne Brooks our Business Manager. We particularly welcome young people who might be contemplating a career in medicine or healthcare.
Group members are happy to act as a conduit for comments or suggestions about the practice, its services and systems. They are able to present these at meetings or directly to the practice, as appropriate.

My wife and I have been patients of Sele Medical Practice since March 2003. I have had over 48 years' involvement in the Health Service which includes 37 years as an employee upto Senior Manager level. I took early retirement in 2000. I am currently self employed, providing training on a part time basis. I am a member of Health Watch.
I became a patient representative for the practice in 2012. With my experience of the NHS, I hope I can provide valuable input into the Practice.
'I'm Sheila Dance, and have joined the patient group following my retirement in December 2011. Having had over 20 years working as Administrator at the Practice I am now looking forward to seeing things from the other side of the desk! I hope that I will be able to use my experience in the interest of other patients by my involvement in this group.'
Stephen retired (August 2012) after 38 years as a teacher, the last 19 years as a secondary head teacher in North Tyneside and Northumberland schools. He is continuing some part time work for the National College for School Leadership and local universities. Working in the public sector and serving local communities have occupied all his working life so as he retires from headship he wishes to continue to serve the community but in a voluntary capacity.
Stephen has a commitment not only to our local NHS services in Northumberland and North Tyneside, in his role as public governor of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust, but the wider provision of health services which he believes must continue to be not only highly professional and deeply caring of each individual, but also willing to embrace innovation and new technologies.
I am pleased to be involved in the the Sele's patient participation group. My family and I have received excellent service from the practice for over 20 years. I am an active campaigner for the RNIB (Royal National institute of the Blind) and the Northumberland Low Vision Action group and through these organisations I have become very interested in the needs of people living with sight loss. In particular, I am keen to improve the provision of accessible information and to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by this group when using the health service more generally. An ageing population will vastly increase the numbers of people who are visually impaired and their needs should be addressed.
Born in London, raised and educated in North Wales, moved to Manchester for university (physics & astrophysics), and then a career as lecturer in Computing Science at Newcastle University.
Since retiring in 1998, I have been surprised by how involved we have both become in local activities (Slaley village hall, community trust, film club, shows, and recently the West Northumberland Community Buildings Consortium).
Since moving to Slaley we have appreciated the excellent service and support from the Sele practice, and are happy to help in a small way.
Born in Manchester, did my child nurse badge in Guides, and ended up as a primary school teacher. We moved to Tynedale in 1986, and loved the countryside and village life. Great supporter and user of the NHS, especially with increasing age. However I feel that everyone should be active in keeping well, so that the service is not overburdened. I am interested in health education, and in supporting the Sele practice.
