Repeat Prescriptions

red_pills_bottleThere are a number of way you can order repeat medication.  You can leave a written request at reception, in the locked post box outside the Practice or post it to the surgery. Tick the items you need on the right-hand section of your previous prescription form.

You can telephone an order in on our dedicated prescription line 01434 607000.  This line is open between 10 am and 4 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 9 am to 12 noon on Thursday.

You can also order medication securely on line using the link on this page.  Please note that there is no e-mail acknowledgment of your prescription.  An entry is added to prescription manager which patients can view.

Your prescription will be ready for collection 48 hours later. If you prefer, we can post it back to you (you will need to provide a stamped, addressed envelope), or we can send it to one of the local chemists.

We are keen to ensure that patients with ongoing medical problems are monitored regularly. If the date for your next review with a doctor or nurse has passed or due you will be asked to make an appointment.  It is very important that if you are asked to make an appointment for a review you attend so we can check your medication is still the most appropraite for your care.  Failure to to so may mean we have to reconsider issuing prescriptions for your medication.

Repeat dispensing scheme

This scheme is designed for patients who use the same medications regularly.  It means you will not have to visit or contact the surgery everytime you need a repeat prescription, it can be obtained direct from the pharmacy of your choice.  If you would like more information about this service please contact our Medicines Manager, Deb Sim on 01434 602237.

Local pharmacy services

Various local pharmacies offer a collection service from the practice. They will ususally seek written consent from you to collect from us on your behalf. We will usually ask you if you wish your prescription to be sent directly to a chemist for you to collect your medication directly from there.

0300 123 3020               PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE PRACTICE.

Anyone who has already 'opted out' and wishes to remain as such does not need to do anything.

Prospective Medical Students

For reasons of confidentiality, we do not offer work experience or placements to anyone wishing to pursue medicine as a career.  We would encourage any of our patients seeking this experience, to join our Patient Participation Group to become more involved and gain an insight into some of the current issues in general practice.

Bus Service

The 683 bus now stops at the main hospital entrance but will also stop, on request, at the Primary Care Centre entrance.

Drop Off and Parking

Patients are welcome to use the drop off bay outside the Primary Care Centre provided that their vehicle is removed as soon as possible to the main car park.

We are advised that car park charges in the Hospital car park, operated by Northumbria Healthcare Trust, have been increased to £1.20 per hour.  This is outside of the practice's control.

New Patients

We welcome patients moving into the area.  We work in purpose built premises which are fully accessible to everyone.  Please ask for an information leaflet and registration form at reception.

RESEARCH

The practice would like to thank all patients who have responded so positively to invitations to participate in research studies offered via the practice.  Research is vital to healthcare in terms of the way conditions are managed and drug development and is something which we are keen to support.  We realise and appreciate that participation is not for everyone and we do not mind if anyone refuses an invitation.

A&E Attendances

Did you know that many people turn up to casualty in Hexham and then simply decide they can't wait any longer?  In doing this patients trigger a charge of £59.
